RAS AL KHAIMAH – UAE authorities are sweeping the emirates for abandoned vehicles that are ruining the image of the UAE, but while some get a grace period, others get instantly confiscated.
What will get your vehicle instantly impounded in the UAE?
Brigadier Dr Mohamed Saeed Al Humaidi, director-general of central operations, said vehicles without number plates, and those that are old, dirty or partially damaged will be immediately removed from the streets and impounded.
“Those without number plates are instantly confiscated. Also, if the car was old, dirty, in terrible condition, unfit for running, or partially damaged, no grace period is given – the vehicle involved is instantly seized and shifted the RAK Police impoundment yard,” Al Humaidi said.
“The same applies to the vehicles offered for sale in undesignated areas, along with those with body damages, no tyres, no roof, no doors, no engine, deflated tyres, or damaged windows,” he added.
Vehicles with damaged dashboards, no seats, or with a colour that was changed without approval by the traffic authorities will also be instantly impounded, the official said. ICA/Expat Media
