DAVAO CITY – It seems that supporters of Philippine president-elect Rodrigo Duterte can’t get enough of his youngest daughter, Veronica, more popularly known as Kitty.
An undated video showing the younger Duterte doing the laundry has shot to popularity on YouTube in the last 24 hours, with page views climbing to more than 30,000 at noon on Monday from just 4,000 on Sunday night.
“Hi, I’m washing my tita’s bra,” Kitty says with an impish grin as she fishes the undergarment from a blue, plastic washbasin, appearing to be more interested in playing with the water than washing clothes.
Social media users commented on her “cute” antics and the family’s modest way of living. “Very simple lang talaga ang pamumuhay nila. Makikita mo talaga (Their way of living is very simple. You can really see),” Anna A said.
Kitty, now 12, has been in the public eye ever since she accompanied her father on his presidential campaign trail. It was exhausting, she said, “but we have to be part of it”, adding that she was her father’s unofficial timekeeper. “I remind him about the time,” she said.
So what do we know about the youngest presidential daughter?
Well, first of all her father has publicly said she is his favourite.

The youngest Duterte has apparently been compared to Kris Aquino, but her mother, Honeylet Avancena, has said her daughter has no plans of entering show business.
Right now, Kitty goes to school in Davao City. Her mother said it is convenient because she doesn’t need to wake up at 3 a.m. unlike other school children. “Dito 6:15 a.m. ginigising ko sya. 7:20 a.m. school nya (Here, I wake her up at 6:15 a.m. School starts at 7:20 a.m.,” Avancena said in a recent interview.
Kitty had initially been upset when she learned that her father was running for president. “Yun ang iniyakan nya (She cried over that),” Avancena disclosed.
Is Kitty a daddy’s girl? “Naghahanap talaga ng tatay (She really looks for her father),” she said, adding that Kitty has given her hints that she wasn’t going to follow her father’s footsteps in politics.
“Ayaw ko yung inuuna pa yung ibang tao kesa sa family (I don’t want to be in a situation where other people come before your family),” Avancena quoted her daughter as saying.
Kitty describes her father as “loving, caring, fun” and says he doesn’t intimidate her at all. “Pareho lang naman kami ng ugali (We have the same attitude),” she told a reporter.
She admits getting angry at her dad sometimes. When that happens, she gives him the silent treatment. “I don’t talk to him and then he’ll hug me and then say I’m sorry,” she said.
