DUBAI – A total of 84 offices illegally recruiting household workers in the UAE have been shut down, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

According to the ministry, the companies violated the Domestic Workers Law. Some of the companies were found to have recruited housemaids despite expired company licenses.

According to the ministry, the owners of the offices that were shut down were also fined and will face legal action.

Their case has been referred to the UAE Attorney General. Violators will face fines, including service fees and administrative fees.

Under UAE law, hiring domestic workers must be done through the 62 official Tadbeer centres, which operates under the approval of MoHRE. ICA/Expat Media
