UAE schools to operate at 100% capacity starting January 2022

DUBAI – Schools and educational institutions across the UAE will be operating at 100 percent capacity starting in January, 2022, authorities have announced.

Hazza Al Mansouri, spokesperson for the UAE education sector, announced in a media briefing on Tuesday (November 17), that school buses will also operate at full capacity.

Currently, schools in Dubai and Sharjah are already operating at full capacity. The new rule will now see students from all emirates return to their school for in-person classes.

However, wearing of face masks and observing social distancing will remain mandatory for students and staff. Educational facilities will be monitored for adherence to safety measures, Al Mansouri said.

The official said that relaxed rules also allow educational facilities to host events, but attendees must have a green pass on their AlHosn app and a negative PCR test result taken not more than 96 hours prior to the event.

University hostels can operate, but can only allow vaccinated students. Those who are exempt must show a negative PCR test result every week. ICA/Expat Media
