UAE Part-time workers can now receive end-of-service benefits

Part-time workers in the UAE can now receive end-of-service benefits at the end of their work term under the new UAE Labour Law.

The new law released executive regulations that included the calculations of the gratuity or severance pay for the types of workers that do not follow the full-time work model such as part-time, temporary work, and flexible work to name a few.

The severance pay is calculated through the number of the part-time workers’ hours divided by the number of hours that a full-time employee usually works per contract. The answer is then multiplied by 100 to serve as the basis of the percentage for the calculation of the gratuity.

Part-time workers who worked for less than a year cannot avail of the end-of-service benefit or severance pay. KSO/Expat Media
