A garden built by Sheikh Ali Al Mualla of the Umm Al Quwain royal family has recently been declared the Most Beautiful Home Garden by Sharjah Municipality.

This is the second time that the royal’s garden has been given the distinction. Sheikh Ali calls his garden his “greatest masterpiece”.

The garden not only has lush flora and fauna amid ponds and waterfalls, but it is also a mini adventure zone with a zipline, a giant swing, slide, climbing net and tunnel! A section in the garden has a mini clock tower and a tiny door reminiscent of the garden in Alice in Wonderland.

Sheikh Ali said he used recycled materials and reclaimed wood in creating his garden, including the outdoor tables and seats, and a raised cabin that can accommodate up to 20 people. One of his outdoor tables is made from a single tree trunk and is 30ft in length.

The royal says his garden gives him an opportunity to hone his talent in arts, craft and construction while also practicing sustainable gardening. ICA/Expat Media
