The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence warned residents of a Dh2,000 fine for blocking fire exits and urged the public to adhere to fire safety rules in the country.
Under the law, every building in the UAE is required to have accessible firefighting equipment, including fire alarms, fire extinguishers and fire exits.
Residents must make sure fire exits and any fire safety equipment are accessible at all times.
Those who are caught obstructing fire extinguishers or fire exits with their belongings will be fined Dh2,000. Common obstructions include bicycles, baby carriages, laundry drying racks and shoe racks. ICA/Expat Media
