UAE companies agree to collaborate on exploring sustainable aviation fuel

Masdar, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), and BP agreed to launch a joint feasibility study to explore the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the UAE.

The collaboration, which also includes Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company Tadweer and Etihad Airways, will look into producing SAF, as well as other products such as renewable diesel and naphtha, from municipal solid waste and renewable hydrogen, according to Masdar.

“The feasibility study will leverage the capabilities of the five partners to evaluate the technical and commercial viability of such a project. If the study’s conclusions are positive, the partners will target working toward developing the region’s first commercial-scale production capacity in Abu Dhabi,” Masdar said. BKM/ Expat Media
