7 mega projects to expect in the UAE

The UAE is known for having a wide range of multimillion projects across the world.

From the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, to the iconic Museum of the Future, the UAE has been constructing several of the world’s megastructures. There’s more coming up.

Here are the 7 most awaited mega projects in the UAE:

 

Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences

Since the Burj Khalifa claimed the title of “world’s tallest tower” in 2010, Burj Binghatti is vying for another mega-title of “world’s tallest residential tower.”

Burj Binghatti is a 104-story residential building that is set to offer residents a spectacular experience of “living amidst the clouds.” The 104-story “hyper tower” is located in Business Bay, Dubai.

It has an investment portfolio exceeding Dh7 billion.

What to expect?

The tower is expected to have “more than 100 floors” housing two collections of luxurious and high-end residential units It will have two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments; five exclusive penthouses; an infinity pool, a gym, multiple dining rooms, a massage room, and a snooker lounge. Prices of these collections start at Dh8 million.

The project was launched last November 2022 and is expected to finish in 2024.

 

Integrated Island Resort and Casino

Estimated to cost Dh7 billion, the Wynn Resorts UAE project encompasses a massive resort with a casino on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. It will be the first facility to offer gaming in the Muslim nation.

What to expect?

The resort, on 29 million square feet of reclaimed land on the man-made island, will include a 424,000 square-foot casino, 1000-plus hotel rooms, a high-end shopping mall, a state-of-the-art meeting and convention facility, a spa, 10 restaurants, and lounges, and an entertainment facility.

It was announced in 2022 that the 1000-room Wynn Al Marjan is set to open in 2026.

 

Dubai Urban Tech District

URB’s ambitious project is set to become the “world’s largest Urban tech District,” spanning a total area of 14,000 sqm in the Al Jaddaf area of Dubai.

Construction of the district is estimated to cost Dh500 billion.

What to expect?

The development will have state-of-the-art amenities and dedicated offices and will host conferences, training, education, research, seminars, and business incubation. It will ultimately aim at providing 4,000 jobs, thus aiding the future growth market. It will offer opportunities to pilot innovations based on applied research while driving public-private partnerships to accelerate the global transitions towards climate-friendly and durable changes.

The massive project will begin construction by 2024 and is expected to be completed in two main phases in 2030.

 

Dubai Islands

Dubai Islands, formerly known as Deira Islands, is a group of five islands located on the coast of Deira, Dubai stretching across an expanse of 17 square kilometers and contributing 50 kilometers to Dubai’s coastline.

UAE developer Nakheel secured Dh16 billion to finance the Dubai Islands project.

What to expect?
The islands offer 21 km of stunning beachfront real estate that is the perfect blend of sandy shores, inviting waters, and access to world amenities. The islands also have residential and resort communities, infused with a rich plethora of retail, cultural, leisure, and wellness experiences.

The project has been restarted and no official opening date has been announced.

 

Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is building the “world’s largest solar energy plant,” with a planned capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030 in an effort to reduce reliance on natural gas and diversify its power sources. It is located in Seih Al Dahal, Dubai.

The project has an initial investment of Dh16 billion.

What to expect?
The power plant will reduce 6.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year starting in 2030.

The solar park demonstrates DEWA’s vision to promote sustainability in energy supply, diversify energy sources, and create a business environment that encourages innovation. It also supports Dubai’s plan to build a knowledge-based economy by improving efficiency standards and supporting renewable energy initiatives.

The operation began in 2013 and is expected to be completed in 2030.

 

Masaar Sharjah Forest Community

A Dh8 billion Sharjah megaproject featuring a vast forested community and a host of leisure attractions is taking shape in the Al Suyoh suburb of Sharjah. It is a new community by Arada Developments, which highlights a forest-like landscape as it’s home to 50,000 trees.

Masaar will feature 4,000 villas and townhouses split into eight gate districts across 19 million square feet.

What to expect?
This community is a fully integrated one so it features all kinds of services and amenities to boost your stays, such as greenery, private swimming pools, jogging trails, kids’ adventure ground, events areas, parking areas, a fitness center, cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets

Masaar Sharjah project also consists of two sub-communities. They feature built-in amenities and smart-home technology which distinguishes this project.

The project was launched in January 2021 and the first homes are expected to be handed over in the first quarter of 2023.

 

Reem Hills

The Reem Hills is a mixed-use residential development project located on Reem Island, where it enjoys stunning views of the seafront and cabanas.

The new Dh8 billion project has been designed with enhanced greenery “to encourage its residents to indulge their senses.”

What to expect?
Reem Hills offers apartments, townhouses, and villas with modern architectural designs, consisting of 5-7 bedrooms.
Reem Hills also has extensive entrances and paths, a secured gate community, first-class facilities, landscape gardens, a balanced lifestyle, and a relaxed environment.
