DUBAI – Sheikh Zayaed Road closed to vehicle traffic on Friday (November 26) as thousands of people took over Dubai’s busiest highway for the Dubai Run.
The highway turned into a giant running track for 5km and 10km fun runs that started near the World Trade Centre Metro Station.
Both races began at 6am. Runners on the iconic highway were able to take in views of the Dubai skyline while completing the route within two hours.
The shorter 5km route ran through Sheikh Zayed Road, passing through a part of Downtown Dubai and around Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The longer, 10km route took runners through Sheikh Zayed Road, around Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and around DIFC.
Dubai Run is an annual event that began in 2019 as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. The 2020 Dubai Run was cancelled due to the pandemic.
