Sharjah sheikh changes rule to help woman with cancer get housing support

A cancer-stricken Emirati woman received much needed housing support, thanks to the help of Sharjah’s magnanimous ruler.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, instructed the Sharjah Housing Programme to change the rule and help the woman.

Under existing rules, only Emiratis with two or more children can get housing support. However, the woman, Umm Majid, only has one son. This caused authorities to initially cancel her approval for a housing loan.

However, under new orders from Sheikh Sultan, she will now be receiving housing support even if she doesn’t have two or more children.

The instruction was announced via the Direct Line programme broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. ICA/Expat Media
