Sharjah man commits suicide after killing family: Police reveal details

The head of Sharjah Police has revealed details into the case of a man who jumped to his death from a building in Sharjah after killing his family.

Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi told Al Khaleej newspaper that the Asian man committed suicide after poisoning his wife and strangling his two daughters, aged 3 and 7.

The incident happened in Sharjah’s Al Majaz area on Tuesday evening (March 28).

According to police, the 35-year-old man jumped from the 10th floor of the residential building where he lived. He died from his injuries as he was transported to the hospital.

“On searching the deceased’s clothes, a paper was found in his pocket, and following translation of the writing, we knew that he killed his wife and his two daughters in their apartment,” Major General Al Shamsi said.

Police who searched his apartment found the bodies of his wife and two daughters. There were no signs of violence or resistance on the bodies of the wife and children.

Major General Al Shamsi said police are still searching for a motive, and that the couple did not have any marital disputes or financial troubles. According to police, the man lived in Sharjah with his family but worked in another emirate.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have summoned the family’s relatives and acquaintances for questioning.

Meanwhile, police said the bodies will be repatriated once the investigation report is handed over to the Public Prosecution. ICA/Expat Media
