Scam targets iPhone users in UAE, authority warns

New scam messages targeting iPhone users have been circulating recently, the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) warned on Thursday (June 23).

In a video, the TDRA warned iPhone users to beware of scam messages that they might receive on the iMessages app.

The video shows a man receiving a message on his iMessenger app that claims he has won a prize. When he opens the link, it tells him he has a chance to win up to $100,000 if he deposits $5,000. His bank account is hacked as soon as he responds to the message.

“TDRA calls on customers to beware of such phishing and fraudulent messages,” the authority warned. ICA/Expat Media
