A motorist has lost his appeal and will pay Dh300,000 as compensation to the parents of a young pedestrian who was killed after he was hit by his car.

The case was first heard at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanors Court, which fined the motorist Dh100,000 and ordered him to pay blood money of Dh200,000 to the victim’s parents.

The motorist appealed the verdict at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanors Court of Appeal, which rejected his appeal, and upheld the ruling for payment of compensation totaling Dh300,000.

The motorist is also facing a separate civil lawsuit filed by the victim’s parents, who are asking for Dh150,000 in compensation for material and moral damages. ICA/Expat Media
