England’s most senior peer, who is in charge of state occasions, announced that the funeral of Queen Elizabeth would be held on Monday, September 19 at 10:00 GMT.
On Sunday, the casket will be transported from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh before heading to London on Tuesday.
It will be brought to Westminster Hall on Wednesday to lie in state until the funeral the following morning.
Earl Marshal Edward Fitzalan-Howard, the Duke of Norfolk, said, “We will carry out our duty over the coming days with the heaviest of hearts, but also with the firmest of resolve to ensure a fitting farewell to one of the defining figures of our times.” BKM/ Expat Media
