Piolo Pascual hugged a super fan and thrilled Filipinos in his first public performance in Dubai since 2019 at the Barrio Fiesta Dubai on Saturday (February 10).
At Zabeel Park, hundreds of Filipinos gathered to watch the heartthrob perform for The Filipino Channel’s 30th year anniversary, which also featured performances by Maris Racal, Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin.
During a segment in the program, five fans carrying their most creative banners for Piolo were invited on stage to meet him up close and personal.
A super fan, identified as Rosebel Olano Lepana, wrote Piolo’s name all over her face and also rushed to wrap her arms and legs around him in an excited embrace that sparked laughs and a big smile on everyone’s face, including the amused actor.
Piolo sang live as he serenaded the crowd throughout his performance, while also working his way to shake hands with fans and pose for photos with them. Watch the live coverage here
Wearing a Michael Cinco jacket, Piolo later revealed a collaboration with the Dubai-based designer for the cover of a Philippine magazine in March.
The star of TV network ABS-CBN also proudly showed his commemorative gold ring which he said symbolized 15 years of being a “Kapamilya” actor. “Actually, I need two because I’ve been with ABS-CBN for 30 years,” he quipped.
Piolo recalled his earliest memories with The Filipino Channel, the global subscription TV network owned by ABS-CBN. “I was in first year of college when I hosted ATBP, which was a children’s show back then,” he said, adding, “I’m proud to be a kapamilya.”
This year will prove to be another busy year for Piolo, with movies, concert tours and a TV series lined up.
On Friday, Piolo was at Mr. Toad’s in Dubai where he revealed to Expat Media and 30 selected TFC fans that he will be very busy shooting for his next TV series when he returns to the Philippines.
“We will be locked-in for taping of Pamilya Sagrado, and then I’m working on a couple of films and touring,” Piolo said. The upcoming TV series is an action-thriller that also stars Aiko Melendez, Tirzo Cruz III, Shaina Magdayo, Mylene Dizon, Rosanna Roces and John Arcilla. ICA/Expat Media
