DUBAI – It was a literal fiesta as a tide of Filipinos swept into Laguna Waterpark in Dubai’s La Mer district for the first Kabayan Weekend on June 28 and 29.
As Expat Media first reported, the Kabayan Weekend offered a special entrance fee of Dh49 to Filipinos during the two-day period, attracting a flurry of visitors.
Expat Media’s team of six was invited to the waterpark on the first day of the Kabayan Weekend. We were instantly swept away by the amazing vibe at the venue!
Excited Filipino chatter filled the air as kabayans dotted the waterpark for a splash of fun. Karaoke music could be heard wafting from one section, while at the infinity pool area, a DJ played a lively set of modern music with some Filipino hits, sending the pool crowd into an impromptu song-and-dance party.
“We’ve never been this full, ever,” Adam Du Plooy, manager of Laguna Waterpark, told Expatmedia.net.
Crowds were eager to try out the waterpark’s four unique zones and rides that included two kinds of adventure slides, and a surf simulator. Others preferred to float along the Lazy River. It was crowded and crazy, but so much fun, just exactly how kabayans love their fiesta!
