For Abdul Salam Muhammad Ashraf, winning Dh100,000 in The UAE Lottery was never about buying luxury items. Instead, the Pakistani limousine driver used every dirham to change the lives of the people who matter most.
Nine months after winning the Dh100,000 Lucky Chance prize in one of The UAE Lottery’s Lucky Day Draws in November 2025, the 55-year-old chauffeur from Sahiwal, Pakistan, says the prize allowed him to achieve several important family milestones.
The long-time UAE resident used part of the winnings to help pay for his son’s wedding, undergo a successful medical surgery, support his daughter in buying a car in Pakistan and donate to charity.
“I was able to complete the things that mattered most to me,” Abdul Salam said. “My son’s wedding was a wonderful family occasion, my surgery was successful, and I was also able to support my loved ones. I’m grateful for that.”
Despite receiving a six-figure windfall, Abdul Salam chose not to spend the money on himself.
“I didn’t buy anything for myself,” he said. “I wanted to use the prize to support my family and help with things that were important to us. That made me very happy.”
The chauffeur continues to work in the UAE and says he remains thankful for what the prize enabled him to accomplish.
His experience has also strengthened his desire to help others. “In the future, if I have the opportunity, I would like to do more charity work and support families in my community back home. Giving back has always been important to me,” he said.
Abdul Salam continues to participate in The UAE Lottery’s Lucky Day Draw, sometimes selecting his own numbers and at other times using the Easy Pick option.
