Novak Djokovic tests positive for Covid-19 in Belgrade

DUBAI – Novak Djokovic has contracted coronavirus, the World No. 1 tennis player revealed on Tuesday (June 23).

“The moment we arrived in Belgrade we went to be tested,” the 33-year-old said in a statement.

Djokovic said he didn’t show symptoms of coronavirus. “My result is positive, just as [wife] Jelena’s, while the results of our children are negative,” he said.

“I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine,” he added.

Djokovic said he will remain in self-isolation for 14 days and take another coronavirus test in five days.

The tennis ace is in Belgrade for the opening leg of a tournament to raise funds for players in need.

In February, Djokovic was in Dubai for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. Expatmedia.net was accredited to cover the tournament, which Djokovic won to take home his fifth DDF crown. ICA/Expat Media
