Gangsters posing as Dubai cops rob Dh1.2 million from Naif company, 5 arrested

Dubai police have arrested a gang of five people who posed as policemen to rob a company in Naif of Dh1.2 million and other valuables.

Lieutenant Colonel Yasser Al Hashemi, Head of the Criminal Records Department, said that the gang members were Asians who were unemployed. The suspects confessed to their crime and have been referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of theft under duress.

Police were able to arrest the suspects within hours after the crime was reported, said Major General Dr Tariq Mohammed Tahlak, Director of Naif Police Station. Police recovered Dh1.2 million from the suspects.

According to the victims, an Arabic-speaking person rang the doorbell to their office in Naif and announced that the group were policemen, so they opened the door, only to discover that the group were Asians.

The gang robbed them of Dh1.2 million, and also seized mobile phones and laptops before fleeing the place. Police were able to track them using CCTV footage from the area.

The first suspect was arrested at his residence, while a second one was arrested in Satwa. A third suspect was arrested in Al Bidda area, while two other suspects were arrested soon after. ICA/Expat Media
