Here is a list of things you probably did not know could get you in big trouble:

10. Picking a fight at the station or on the train. Causing a public disturbance will earn you a fine of AED100 and quite possibly some scratches or a black eye (not to mention the dent to your ego).

9. Putting your feet up on the seats. Seriously, where are your manners? If you don’t know this is rude, then at least know that if you do this on the Metro you’ll be fined AED100.

8. Hanging out at Metro stations. Standing or sitting in non-passenger areas is not allowed and if you are caught, better get your AED100 ready.

7. Using Dubai Metro parking areas as your personal parking spot. Parking your vehicle in areas designated for metro users for more than 24 hours will earn you a fine of AED100 per day and up to AED1,000.

6. Hide those kakanins and don’t even think about passing around those leaflets. Selling or promoting goods and commodities on the train or at the station is prohibited. Offenders will be fined AED200.

5. Ignoring inspectors or instructions of authorized Roads and Transport Authority personnel. They are just doing their job so treat them with courtesy (unless you think they’re being unnecessarily rude, then file a complaint because courtesy goes both ways). There’s a AED200 price tag for your snub.

4. Sleeping. Yes, if you’re caught in the land of nod on the train or anywhere at the Metro station, then you are sure to wake up to a fine of AED300.

3. Using a fake card. Forging a card may cost you nothing, except probably your conscience, your honor and a very genuine AED500 when you are caught.

2. Packing up a survival kit for The Walking Dead. Yes, you will need those weapons or sharp objects just in case a horde of zombies come running your way, but you don’t need them on the Metro. Unless you want to get fined a hefty AED1,000.

1. Dressing in drag. Two cross-dressing Filipinos were caught by police at a Dubai Metro station. The duo were jailed for a month and then deported. Don’t let this happen to you.

World No.1 Nadal to challenge for record fifth Abu Dhabi title after roaring to semi-final victory over Karen Khachanov

ABU DHABI – Rafael Nadal is eyeing  a record fifth title in Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship on Saturday (December 21) versus Stefanos Tsitsipas after roaring to semi-final victory over Karen Khachanov.

The finals at Abu Dhabi’s International Tennis Centre is expected to start not before 7pm on Saturday, with Khachanov to face World No. 2 Novak Djokovic in third-place play-off at 5pm.

On Friday, Nadal turned on the style at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, roaring to victory over Russia’s Khachanov.

Nadal, winner of 19 Grand Slams, showed why he is starting the new season as the top-ranked player on the planet with a blistering display of power-hitting and agility to dismiss semi-final opponent Khachanov 6-1, 6-3 in just 1 hour and 28 minutes at Abu Dhabi’s International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City.

Chasing a fifth title on his 10th Mubadala World Tennis Championship anniversary, the Spaniard took just 43 mins seal the first set against Russia’s Khachanov, who had looked good in his quarter-final win over Hyeon Chung on Thursday.

The 2019 US Open champion didn’t let up in the second set, fizzing his way around the court and leaving his opponent with few options. Nadal broke Khachanov in the opening game of the second set, and while the Russian refused to buckle, Nadal wrapped up the semi-final in front of a capacity crowd to set up an intriguing encounter with World No. 6 Tsitsipas in Saturday’s final.

The Greek star produced a stunning comeback to down defending champion Novak Djokovic 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in Friday’s first semi-final. The championship match (not before 7pm) will follow the third-place play-off between Khachanov and Djokovic, and Nadal is relishing the chance of fifth title in the UAE capital.

“It’s nice to play some good tennis, I did almost every right. I was a little surprised by how well I played, and I hope to be able to have one more good match tomorrow in the final,” said the World No. 1.

“I’m happy I could play against Nadal at this level. Every match is a different story and you have to look back at what you did or didn’t do and if someone has played better, like today, you just have to say well done and look to get better,” said Khachanov.
