Months after its release in Dubai, the MoonSwatch is still drawing crowds at Swatch stores, with dozens of collectors seen camping outside the Swatch shop in Dubai Mall on Monday (August 1).
A collector told Expatmedia.net that he and many others have been waiting outside the shop since the mall opened in the morning.
“We heard that they might release some pieces on Monday. Last Wednesday evening, a few pieces were sold here,” the collector, identified by his initials JVG, told Expatmedia.net.
The MoonSwatch launched in the UAE on March 26 and is priced at Dh950. It has been mostly out of stock at the only two Swatch stores that sell it: Dubai Mall and Mall of Emirates.
There is no pre-booking or reservations allowed for the MoonSwatch and the first-come first-served basis on which it is sold is adding to its demand among watch lovers.
The iconic watch is a collaboration between Omega and Swatch and makes the Speedmaster more affordable at Dh950.
The MoonSwatch is a battery-powered Bioceramic watch that draws inspiration from the planets. There are 11 designs to choose from.
