Alira top jury in talent showdown at Modesh World

The Musical Fashion Runway and Talent Show in Dubai is back this month, with Emirati hitmaker Alira in the judging panel for the finals on August 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Now in its second season, the talent showdown is part of Modesh World under the Dubai Summer Surprises and will feature dancers, singers, instrumentalists, gymnasts, models and other talents, according to organizer Funtastic Family.

Auditions will be held on August 13 and 14 for four categories: Little Icons (7 years old and below); Junior Icons (8 years old to 12 years old); Teen Icons (13 years old to 17 years old); and Star Icons (17 years old and above).

On the August 20 finals, Alira will be the top jury to crown the best of the best. The Emirati countertenor star said he is excited to see the unique talents that the UAE has to offer. “I started with the right encouragement from people to continue on this musical path. I hope to be able to do the same with these young, budding talents,” Alira said.

“This is your time to shine,” Alira said in a message to aspiring talents, urging them to “get ready and work hard”.

The Emirati pop singer debuted his original song We Are One at the Expo 2020 Dubai earlier this year. The performance received rave reviews that Alira was invited to reprise it in India in May where he set a new world record with the biggest ensemble cast of nearly 500 people for the 7-minute musical production. A representative from International Wonder Book of Records confirmed that Alira has been entered into the record for the unique feat.

Alira has wowed multinational fans with his versatility in singing in various languages in his trademark countertenor voice. A full-blooded Emirati, Alira not only in his native Arabic, but also in English, Hindi, Filipino, Chinese and Japanese, to name a few. His debut pop song, Take Flight, became a dance craze on social media.

“Through my music, I want to inspire and connect people while also showing the world that Emiratis are multitalented,” Alira said. “The UAE is not just a melting pot of culture, it is also the hub of global talent. We are incredibly privileged to be living here, thanks to our leaders,” he said.
