Volleyball stalwart Alyssa Valdez a shoo-in, according to volleyball coaches


MANILA – Filipino volleyball star Alyssa Valdez will be part of the national team that will compete in international tournaments this year, according to the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) organization.

The LVPI is expected to name the members of the national pool today as national head coaches Francis Vicente for the women’s team and Sammy Acaylar for men’s team meet with federation officials to finalize the composition of the teams.

According to volleyball officials interviewed by the sports website,, Valdez, a former star player of the Ateneo de Manila University, is a shoo-in although Vicente has kept mum about it.

The officials said there is no way Valdez won’t be included.

Valdez is currently playing in Thailand with the 3BB Nakornnont team of the Thai volleyoball league but she went out of her way to go to Davao for the tryouts held there for the Philippine team. GAC/Expat Media
