Adventurer Issa Qaassim Qazaqzah has reached the UAE after traveling on a bicycle from his country of Jordan, putting in 3,000km to complete the feat.
The 44-year-old Jordanian said it took him three months to travel on a bicycle from Jordan, crossing Saudi Arabia before reaching Bahrain and then moving on to the UAE.
He told Al Khaleej newspaper that this was his first time to visit the UAE and that he was welcomed by more than 10 Emirati families.
Qasaqsah has so far travelled to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. He is scheduled to make his way to Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
The cyclist said his initiative is aimed at supporting people with Down syndrome and disabilities, and promote awareness on the dangers of drugs. He started his bicycle trips in 2005, within Jordan. This is his first journey abroad, he said.
Qazaqzah said that some of his challenges he faces include the changing weather, bicycle malfunctions, as well as minor injuries from falling off his bicycle, but that it’s all part of the journey. ICA/Expat Media
