Mahzooz: Dubai-based OFW to invest, pay debts after winning Dh111,000

A Filipino construction worker in Dubai bagged Dh111,000 – the equivalent of P1.7 million – in the recent Mahzooz draw.

“Mahzooz is a big help to me. I’m happy I won,” 42-year-old Esmail said in Filipino.

Esmail is from Maguindanao in the southern Philippines and was one of three Filipinos who won the weekly draw.

“I have many debts. But I plan to invest whatever will be left [after payments], in a cafeteria here in UAE,” he said.

Esmail arrived in Dubai on a visit visa three years ago.
He currently resides in Sharjah with his cousin.

Esmail’s wife has been a domestic service worker in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) for the past five years, and she visits him on her day off.

The lucky OFW stated that he fled Maguindanao, which he described as a chaotic place, to seek his fortune in Dubai.

Participants in Mahzooz can enter the draw by registering on the company’s website and purchasing a bottle of water for Dh35, which entitles them to multiple entries. BKM/ Expat Media
