Fines begin for UAE visit visa, tourist visa violators


DUBAI – Holders of expired visit visa or tourist visa in the UAE will be fined for overstaying after the grace period ended last week.

An extended grace period that ended on September 10 was given to those whose visit visa or tourist visa expired after March 1 to change their status or exit the UAE without incurring fines.

An Amer representative said that overstay fines will be imposed on visa violators who have remained in the UAE from September 11.

Immigration authorities will be able to ascertain how the fines will be calculated.

The penalty for overstaying is Dh200 for the first day, and Dh100 for each consecutive day. There is also a service fee of Dh100. ICA/Expat Media
