Filipina falls to death in Sharjah while trying to escape arrest

 

SHARJAH – A Filipina fell to her death after jumping from the balcony of an apartment in Sharjah on Monday, according to Sharjah Police.

The 30-year-old expatriate, identified with her initials A.A.S., fell from the sixth-floor apartment balcony in a building in Al Majarah area at past midnight.

Police said the Filipina had been staying with an Iraqi man in the apartment for a month. It is believed they moved into the apartment without the owner’s knowledge.

The duo was eventually spotted by the building watchman, who reported the incident to the apartment owner.

The apartment owner immediately notified police about the intruders.

Police said the Filipina tried to escape as soon as officers arrived at the apartment during the raid. She jumped out of the balcony to escape. The impact of the fall instantly killed her.

Her body was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have taken into custody the Arab man who accompanied her in the apartment.
