DUBAI – A Filipina who was trying to flee from her employer fell to her death from the third-floor apartment of a building in Morocco.
The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli did not name the victim but said that she died from injuries after falling from the building in Casablanca on Saturday.
Charge d’Affaires Elmer Cato said the Filipina had tried to escape by climbing out of the window using pieces of cloth that she tied together into a makeshift rope.
Cato said that the rope broke, causing the 49-year-old Filipina to fall to her death.
The Philippine official said that authorities in Morocco have held the Filipina’s employer for questioning, and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Department of Foreign Affairs will also be extending help to repatriate the woman’s remains to the Philippines, Cato said. ICA/Expat Media
