DUBAI – Little did Indian expatriate Manzoor Ali know that a pair of shoes he bought for Dh409 in Abu Dhabi would bring him a step closer to the biggest windfall of his life.
Ali, 35, won Dh50,000 worth of gift vouchers from Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi after he bought a pair of Caterpillar shoes there last week.
He is not yet sure what he will spend the vouchers on, but is considering buying gold and jewellery as an investment.
The Kerala native said he will also buy clothes and electronic items to bring with him on vacation in India where his wife, their two children and parents live.
Malls in the UAE occasionally offer raffle draws featuring big prizes to entice shoppers and spur retail sales. One of the biggest prizes given away include Dh1 million in cash and luxury cars. GAD/Expat Media
