More than 600 volunteer positions remain open for the Burj Khalifa New Year’s Eve 2027 celebrations in Downtown Dubai, giving UAE residents another way to be part of one of Dubai’s biggest annual events.

As of Saturday (September 26), 488 people had registered for the main volunteer programme, according to figures seen by Expat Media on the Volunteers.ae website. A total of 1,100 volunteers are required for community engagement roles, leaving 612 positions still available.

A separate volunteer programme linked to New Year’s Eve celebrations in Downtown Dubai is also looking for 200 people for emergency and safety response duties. Of these, 186 positions had already been filled, or 93 per cent of the requirement.

Volunteer opportunities in the UAE are regulated under federal law, with requirements in place to ensure volunteering is organised and safe. Applicants generally need to be UAE citizens or residents, be at least 18 years old, have good conduct and be medically fit for the role. Those below 18 can volunteer with parental consent. Volunteers carrying out work within a regulated professional field must hold the relevant licence.

Volunteers.ae is the UAE’s nationwide platform for finding approved volunteer opportunities.
