DUBAI – A travel agency in Dubai that sold illegal PCR tests secretly through WhatsApp has been shut down, authorities said.
The illegal activity was uncovered after a consumer complained about their service. The travel agency is located in Business Bay.
Investigators from the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in Dubai Economy tracked down the travel agency and confirmed the illegal activity.
The travel agency was shut down, and the Dubai Health Authority was also told about the laboratories that cooperated with the violator.
Only medical facilities licensed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and DHA are allowed to offer PCR testing in Dubai.
Abdulaziz Al Tannak, director of the Commercial Control Department in CCCP, said that monitoring campaigns are continuing in Dubai to track down violators.
“We will not hesitate to take action against any commercial establishment trying to exploit the prevailing pandemic situation,” Al Tannak said. ICA/Expat Media
