A Dubai court has sentenced a European woman to 10 years in jail and a fine of Dh100,000 for possession and abuse of cocaine and other narcotics.

The Dubai Criminal Court also ruled that she will be deported after serving her jail term.

The case dates back to August 2023 when the Dubai Police received a tipoff that an Asian man was selling drugs at his hotel room in Jumeirah.

Following an investigation, police raided the place and arrested the man. They also seized illegal drugs in his residence. The European woman, who appeared drugged, was detained. Police found in her possession four packs of hashish.

She was taken to the General Department of Anti-Narcotics where her urine sample tested positive for use of cocaine and hashish. During interrogation, she admitted to possessing various drugs and cocaine that she said she received from the Asian man for free. ICA/Expat Media
