Dubai’s first “Work from Park” facility is nearing its opening at Al Barsha Pond Park, giving remote workers, freelancers and entrepreneurs a new place to work surrounded by the park’s greenery.

The first facility was initially scheduled to open in May 2026, but the opening was subsequently delayed. Recent updates indicate that the Al Barsha Pond Park site is now nearing readiness.

The facility is the flagship site of Dubai Municipality’s Work from Park initiative, which was launched in April to introduce flexible work environments within public parks across the emirate.

The initiative aims to turn selected public parks into multifunctional spaces where people can work, connect and spend time outdoors, while retaining the parks’ recreational role. The first facility has been developed through a partnership involving Dubai Municipality, Group AMANA and Letswork.

Group AMANA, through its DuBox division, is responsible for constructing the first Work from Park facility using off-site modular construction. The units are manufactured before being transported and assembled at the park, a process designed to reduce construction time, minimise waste and improve resource efficiency.

Letswork will activate and operate the workspaces through its platform, giving users access to facilities including hot desks, event spaces, podcast studios and creative production areas.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the project is intended to make public parks more useful for both residents and economic activity.

“Dubai Municipality’s ‘Work from Park’ initiative reflects our commitment to transforming public parks into future-ready urban spaces that enhance quality of life while supporting economic activity,” Anwahi said. He added that the partnerships would combine “advanced construction methodologies, innovative workspace models, and private sector expertise” to create workspaces that are flexible, sustainable and suited to modern working patterns.

Omar AlMheiri, Co-Founder of Letswork, said the initiative could change how flexible work is experienced in the UAE. He said the project would provide “inspiring, tech-enabled environments that break the traditional office mold,” while also introducing specialised Creative Spaces and podcast studios.

What will be available?

The Work from Park concept is designed to cater to different types of users, from employees working remotely to freelancers, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses and content creators.

The Al Barsha Pond Park facility is expected to include coworking areas, hot desks, meeting and event spaces, podcast studios and creative production facilities. Letswork’s current listing for the venue describes it as a purpose-built outdoor workspace with high-speed Wi-Fi, power and climate-controlled seating.

The initiative also plans to support content creators through dedicated creative spaces, while educational programmes and collaborative sessions are expected to provide opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship and networking.

Dubai Municipality has said additional Work from Park locations will be introduced in other public parks as the programme expands across the emirate.

The project forms part of Dubai Municipality’s wider efforts to make public parks multifunctional urban spaces and is aligned with the Dubai 2040 Parks and Greenery Strategy, Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and Dubai Economic Agenda D33. ICA/Expat Media
