DUBAI – Following the victory of Indian politician Narendra Modi in the elections, an Indian man based in Dubai has named his newborn son after the prime minister.
The boy’s grandfather, Mohammad Idrish, told ANI that the baby was named Narendra Modi because “on the day he was born, Modi was winning with bumper votes”.
The baby was born on May 23.
Idrish said that the baby’s mother had called her husband in Dubai after giving birth and that the later had told her to name their son Narendra Modi.
The woman, Menaj Begum, hailed Prime Minister Modi for “doing great work”.
“I want my son to do good work like Modi ji and become as successful as him,” she said, adding that she hopes that his second term in office will benefit all Indians.
