Dubai Culture introduces gold membership at public libraries

DUBAI – Book lovers will benefit from a gold membership launched at public libraries in Dubai, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) announced on Wednesday (August 4).

“This initiative comes as part of Dubai Culture’s commitment to the continuous improvement of the services provided at its public libraries and the development of projects that contribute to achieving customer satisfaction and enhancing the welfare of society,” said Mohammed Jassim Al Al Araidi, Director of Public Libraries Department at Dubai Culture.

Al Araidi said the gold membership is targeted at cultural visa holders and their children, owners of private libraries and their children, writers, artists, writers and their children, Dubai Culture employees and their children, public benefit associations, and the private sector.

Dubai Public Library members can borrow knowledge materials outside the library, use the internet for free, and obtain reduced fees when using library services.

Gold family members can borrow up to 35 books instead of 25 books, while adults can borrow 30 books instead of 20 books and children under the age of 12 can borrow up to 20 books instead of 10. The borrowing period is 28 days for regular members and 35 days for gold categories.

“The application for the service is now completely electronic through the website and the DPL app and takes under 15 minutes to complete,” Al Araidi added.

Dubai Culture manages the network of Dubai Public Library branches, which includes eight libraries for adults and seven for children, in addition to multi-purpose halls and study halls. ICA/Expat Media
