Lalith Kannangara, an alleged underworld criminal suspected of heading a drug trafficking operation in the Hanwella area, has been arrested by Dubai security authorities.

Dubai information said that he was arrested based on an Interpol Red Notice.

Kannangara allegedly organized the Hanwella hotel owner’s murder by an underworld gunman Booru Muna and assisted in Muna’s escape from Katunayake Airport police custody.

Police investigating the Hanwella murder used an Interpol Red Notice to arrest Lalith Kannangara at the airport as he tried to leave the country.

A senior police officer has confirmed a Red Notice and terrorism charges against Kannangara, with an arrest warrant pending. MFD/Expat Media
