Dubai: Asian gang fined Dh550,000, sentenced to prison for several cases of burglary

The Criminal Court of Dubai convicted and sentenced a group of six Asians to a year in prison after breaking into a villa and stealing gold biscuits, expensive watches, and jewelry.

The court has also jointly fined them $152,118 (approximately Dh558,730), to be followed by deportation.

According to police records, the investigation began in August of last year when a European woman submitted a report alleging that a theft had occurred in her home.

The victim stated that when she arrived home, she discovered that the back door had been broken and went to inspect her items.

She then realized that gold biscuits worth $50,000 (Dh183,650) and a Rolex watch worth $10,000 (Dh36,730) were missing. Aside from that, she saw that her diamond and other jewelry were also missing.

An investigation team gathered evidence and apprehended the group while committing a similar crime in another part of the emirate. During interrogation, the offender admitted to committing the theft in Jumeirah.

The accused stated that two people would be assigned to monitor the residences and residents of the villas. The others would then arrive at the ideal moment to commit the crime. They further stated that the stolen stuff would be divided among them.

A police officer further revealed in investigations that while investigating the accused’s home, they discovered various stolen items from thefts recorded across Dubai. BKM/ Expat Media
