Dubai airport runway to reopen on June 22

Dubai International Airport’s northern runway will reopen as planned on June 22, authorities said.

The runway at the world’s busiest airport was closed starting on May 9 for major renovation, and officials said work is on schedule to meet the deadline for its reopening.

More than 1,000 flights per week have been directed to Dubai World Central Airport during the 45-day closure of the runway.

To ensure disruption is limited during the period, Dubai Airports is advising all passengers who are due to travel into or out of Dubai during the closure period to check with their respective airlines in advance to confirm the airport and terminal.

Dubai Airports also announced a special series of transport links between Dubai International airport and DWC.

These will provide flexible options for those traveling during the 45-day closure, including an inter-airport complimentary 24/7 coach service for transfers between the two airports, free on-site parking facilities for passengers at DWC and special fares for RTA taxis flagged for journeys from DWC.
