Driver, HR manager in Dubai win Dh100,000 each in Big Ticket e-draw

A driver and an HR manager in Dubai were among three people who won Dh100,000 each in Big Ticket’s weekly e-draw, the organiser announced on Tuesday (May 23).

The winning tickets were selected in an electronic draw on May 18. Shaik Fareeth, a 44-year-old driver, won Dh100,000 after he bought a ticket at the Big Ticket store at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The Dubai resident said he took a chance on buying the ticket on his own after his friends stopped pooling money to buy one.

The father of two said he will be investing a part of his cash prize and send the rest of it to his family.

The second Dh100,000 prize winner is Ramdasan Kurungot Parambath, an HR manager in Dubai. Parambath has lived in Dubai for the past 13 years. He bought his winning ticket on May 11 through the Big Ticket website. The Indian expat said he has been buying Big Ticket entries irregularly for the past two years.

The third winner of the weekly e-draw is Sukesh Thadathil, a 37-year-old safety officer in Abu Dhabi. Sukesh, who has lived in the UAE since 2008, said he bought his ticket at the Big Ticket counter in Abu Dhabi airport on his way to a vacation with his family. Thadathil said his wife chose the winning ticket.

When asked about what he will do with his cash prize, Thadathil said he will be investing the money for the future of his daughters.

In addition to the three individuals who won Dh100,000 each, there were also twenty other winners from different nationalities, including the United Kingdom, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and India. These twenty winners were awarded a prize of Dh10,000 each, bringing the total number of winners in the second weekly e-draw of May to 23.

The next weekly e-draws will be on May 25 and June 1, with the grand draw on June 3 for the Dh20 million jackpot. Participants have until May 31 to buy a ticket. ICA/Expat Media
