Decorating your car for UAE National Day? Rules from Abu Dhabi Police

DUBAI – Abu Dhabi Police reminded motorists of safety guidelines if they are decorating their cars or driving on the streets to mark UAE National Day on December 2.

Motorists caught violating the rules, obstructing traffic or driving recklessly will be fined Dh2,000. Their vehicle will also be impounded for 30 days, and they will receive 12 black points on their traffic file.

According to Abu Dhabi Police, motorists can decorate their cars between November 25 and December 6, but should ensure that decorations do not block windshields and licence plates.

Motorists should not use noisy accessories. Motifs and decals may be added to the side of the vehicle, but the overall color of the vehicle should not be changed.

Motorists must ensure the number of people inside the vehicle does not go beyond three, with passengers and the driver wearing face masks at all times.

Passengers must remain seated, and are not allowed to stand through the sunroof or hang out of open windows. They should not spray paint or other things at people.

The UAE will have a three-day holiday from December 1 to 3 to mark Commemoration Day and National Day. ICA/Expat Media
