Covid-19 in UAE: 63 new coronavirus cases confirmed, total cases at 468

DUBAI – The number of coronavirus cases in the UAE stood at 468 on Saturday (March 28) after authorities confirmed 63 new Covid-19 cases.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention made the announcement on Saturday, a day after it said that 72 more people had contracted the virus in the UAE.

Authorities have been imposing measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, with a National Disinfection Programme launched on Thursday to sanitize roads, public utilities and public transport.

On Saturday, Dr. Faridah Al Hosani, spokesperson and Director of the Department of Communicable Diseases at Abu Dhabi Centre for Public Health, thanked citizens, residents, police, military, security and municipalities who worked and cooperated in the ongoing National Disinfection Programme.

Disinfection programme extended

The Ministry of Health and Prevention also announced on Saturday that the sterilization campaign has been extended until April 5 and will be carried out daily from 8pm until 6am the following day.

Restrictions in public movement and traffic will continue and people are expected to stay in their homes during the sterilization drive.

The programme, which began at 8pm on Thursday, was initially scheduled to end on 6am on Sunday. DAJ/Expat Media
