Coco Martin shares confidence in his next project, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo

Following the successful seven-year run of his iconic teleserye “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” Coco Martin is set to be back on primetime with the “supreme actress”, Lovi Poe, retelling another Fernando Poe Jr.’s classic film, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

It was in 2015 when FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano first aired. It became the longest-running action-drama series on Philippine television, with 1,696 episodes until it ended in 2022.

In a media conference on February 7, when asked if FPJ’s Batang Quiapo would be as successful as Ang Probinsyano, Coco Martin shared with Expatmedia.net his confidence in the new project.

“This will be my first time to brag; I know that this project will be successful,” Coco told Expatmedia.net in Filipino.

Batang Quiapo is a 1986 Filipino action-drama film starring Fernando Poe Jr. that shattered box-office records of its time. Now, the 1986 film will be adapted into a modern remake with Coco playing both the lead actor and the film director.

Making the film both locally and globally competent, Coco explained how he planned to improve the quality of making the Batang Quiapo.

“We ensured the quality that we were aiming for. We upgraded in terms of camera works, music, and foley. We want to compete and go along with the production in other countries,” Coco said.
He also shared in the interview how happy he was to watch and experience the film.

Malou Sevilla, one of the directors of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, said that to create a better show for the audience and their fulfillment, it has to start with the mindset that it should be another success.

“I’d like to get into that mindset so that things will come out more beautiful,” Sevilla said.

FPJ’s Batang Quiapo started filming earlier this year with other promising actors on the slate, like Charo Santos -Concio, John Estrada, Cherry Pie Picache, and McCoy de Leon. It is set to air on Monday (February 13). RZSP/Expat Media
