Celebrity District in Dubai: New Filipino restobar opens in Deira

Celebrity District opens to the public in Dubai on Saturday (September 2), with actor Ken Chan expected to perform for fans.

The modern Filipino restobar is located in Level R of Bristol Hotel in Dubai’s bustling business hub of Deira. Celebrity District features a lineup of nightly entertainment from Dubai’s first Filipino boyband Upgrade, a comedy skit and singing and dancing segments from local acts.

Philip Vasquez, owner of Celebrity District, said it is a “milestone” to open the new hub “that would deliver world class entertainment.” “Every night we have a total of 21 performers,” Vasquez said, while also thanking his business partners iFranchise’s Krizzia Ann Loyang Tanabe and Irvins Salted Egg UAE’s Mylene Ante.

Celebrity District launched on Friday night, with VIP attendees including Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver and other consulate and Philippine officials. Filipino business owners in the UAE were also in attendance, including Expat Media’s Mars Yabut De los Santos, Philippine Business Council Dubai Chairman Edwin Duria, Prime Group’s Dr. Mary Jane Alvero, MSM Cargo’s Marilyn Siervo, MPQ Tourism’s Malou Prado and Balikbayan Store’s Michelle Guinto. Filipino community leaders also attended the launch, including Philippine Business Council Dubai Chairman Emeritus Bobbie Carella and Josie Conlu.

The ambassador praised the Filipino owners of Celebrity District, saying that the business venture was “founded on skill, talent and heart to open something like this”. “It is always enriching for the whole community and brings us together and shows the UAE what Filipinos can do,” Ver said.

Dubai-based dance group G-SWAG entertained guests with an energetic dance medley, while resident band Upgrade sang their hit songs. Guests were also tickled by the comedy of Dubai-based Chokie Echosera. ICA/Expat Media
