Can Dubai expats land in any UAE airport? Rules clarified

DUBAI – UAE residents with visas issued in Dubai can land in any UAE airport but will still need to get prior permission to return to the UAE, a top immigration official clarified.

The federal government recently relaxed rules on travel clearances, scrapping the need for ICA permit for residents returning to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates.

For Dubai residents, a permit to return to the UAE is still required, and they will need to get approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

On Saturday (August 23), Mohammed Al Marri, director general of GDRFA in Dubai, confirmed that Dubai residents who get a permit from the GDRFA will be allowed to land in any airport in the UAE.

“For arriving UAE residents through Dubai or Abu Dhabi airports, the GDRFA permit allows residents to return to Dubai through any UAE airport,” Al Marri said. ICA/Expat Media
