DUBAI – What’s the most prevalent pest infestation in Abu Dhabi?
It’s mosquitos, according to the Pest Control Projects Department at Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre or Tadweer.
Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Pest Control Projects Director at Tadweer, said the bloodsucking pests accounted for 43 percent of infestation in Abu Dhabi.
They’re followed by rodents, which make up 34 percent of infestation in the capital, and flies at 32 percent of infestation.
Al Marzouqi made the statement after Tadweer conducted an intensive pest control programme at construction sites in the emirate.
The campaign covered 559 construction sites in Abu Dhabi, as well as Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Out of that number, 216 sites were affected by pests.
Al Marzouqi said that in Al Ain, 34 percent of sites surveyed were infested by mosquitoes, 10 percent by rodents, and 11 percent by flies.
In Al Dhafra, 16 percent of sites were infested by mosquitoes, 7 percent by rodents, and 5 percent by flies. ICA/Expat Media
