A Filipino nurse in Abu Dhabi has won a new Maserati Ghibli worth an estimated Dh400,000 in the last Big Ticket draw of the season, the raffle draw operator announced on Monday (April 15).

Galileo Balitaan was one of two people who won a luxury car in Big Ticket’s live draw on April 3. The raffle draw operator announced that it would be its last draw before imposing a “temporary pause in operations in accordance with the UAE regulatory gaming requirements.”

Balitaan, a nurse, said it was his first time to win in Big Ticket. The Filipino bought his winning ticket at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. He has been buying Big Ticket raffle tickets for five years and decided to try his luck with the Dream Car ticket.

Balitaan said he was overjoyed to win the prize and was excited to share the news with his family. When asked what he wanted to do with the car, Balitaan said he wants to sell it and use the money to pay for his children’s education.

“My two oldest kids are headed off to college this year. I’ll put the cash I make towards their higher education expenses, in hopes that this will help them both build bright futures ahead,” he said.

Meanwhile, UAE national Bushra Alnaqbi won a Range Rover Evoque during the same draw.

Alnaqbi, who works at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), is also a first-time winner in Big Ticket. She has been buying Dream Car tickets for the past seven months at Abu Dhabi International Airport. She bought her winning ticket online.

Alnaqbi wants to use the car, which she said will be a great experience for her family, too. ICA/Expat Media
