DUBAI – UAE residents and bookworms of all nationalities, as well as tourists flocked to Dubai Studio City for the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale’s second chapter in Dubai.
The book sale is open 24 hours a day until 11:59pm on October 20 at Sound Stage in Dubai. The sale features three million new English-language books available at discounts of 50 percent to 80 percent.
On its first weekend, more than 90,000 avid readers and bookworms came to explore books across several genres – children’s, fiction and non-fiction sections.
“My wife and I went on Friday and there was so much going on – crowds trawling through books, kids running around. We loved it! We have three children and it was very exciting for them too. As expected, our trolleys were full of children’s books,” said Masoud Omar, a Lebanese expatriate living in Dubai.
While the vast majority of the Sale’s three million books are English-language, event partner Mohammed bin Rashid Knowledge Foundation, has contributed a number of Arabic books and publications through its publishing arm, Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution as part of its commitment to promote the Arabic language.
“I loved the variety of books, from fiction, to comics books to lifestyle and so much more. It gives you endless options to pick from. The fact that the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is open 24 hours means that I can make time for that midnight book shopping spree,” said Nader Nabil.
Mohamed Al Aidaroos, Managing Partner of Ink Readable Books, the local organisers of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Dubai, said the book sale has something for everyone – teachers, parents, students, book lovers, occasional readers and even those looking for a gift ahead of the festive season.
“The Sale is the perfect opportunity for families, friends and individuals to explore books to further their learning. It’s a great way to spend a day with loved ones surrounded by books. We have more business, self-help and fiction books this year– the three most popular genres among Dubai readers last year,” said Al Aidaroos. ICA/Expat Media
