Abu Dhabi police arrest reckless driver for ‘traffic mess’ on highway

A reckless driver has been arrested in Abu Dhabi after committing three serious traffic violations that caused a “traffic mess” on the highway.

Police said the driver dangerously overtook other vehicles from the right lane, as well as overtook other motorists while on the road shoulder. The driver was also tailgating. Watch the video here:

“He caused a traffic mess and endangered the safety of drivers,” according to Abu Dhabi Police, without giving further details about when and where the incident happened. The identity of the driver was not revealed, but CCTV footage showed him driving a white car.

Meanwhile, police issued a reminder to motorists to avoid overtaking other vehicles, saying that changing lanes recklessly poses a risk to both the driver and other motorists.

Drivers were also warned to avoid using the road shoulder, which is designed for emergency cases, and to avoid tailgating, which is considered one of the top causes of deadly road accidents in the UAE. ICA/Expat Media
