Employee gets Dh100,000 compensation for losing eyesight in an accident at work

The Abu Dhabi court has ordered an employer to pay an employee Dh100,000 in compensation for the damages he suffered after he lost 90 percent of his eyesight while working.

The employee claimed that his injury was due to the employer’s failure to provide means of security and safety.

He filed a lawsuit and requested an amount of Dh200,00 for the material and moral damages he sustained and a legal interest of 12 percent from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment, in addition to the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyer’s fees.

After thorough judgment, the court ruled a final indictment and fined the employer Dh10,000 in absentia, in addition to Dh90,000 for the permanent disability which afflicted him.

The latter, however, rejected the claim of the legal interest. RZSP/Expat Media
